Our Collaboration with New Jersey’s Flounder Brewing to bring you Devil’s Nectah!

Devils NectahWe’re excited to announce the release of Devil’s Nectah, a limited-edition cranberry-honey helles lager brewed with New Jersey-based brewery Flounder Brewing Co.

This delicious collaboration beer is the culmination of a year-long program, the Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream Brewing and Business Experienceship, which provides one small craft brewer annually with hands-on brewing and business coaching.

Our brewers collaborated with Jeremy “Flounder” Lees, brewer and founder of Flounder Brewing Co., and his team on this dynamic new brew inspired by local produce. At 5.2% abv, the unique lager is brewed with Jersey Fresh® honey and Massachusetts cranberries to create a bright, tart flavor to complement a subtly sweet base with a soft, round finish. Read More

Bugs & Berries: A Samuel Adams and Mikkeller Collaboration

Bugs & BerriesThe idea to brew Bugs & Berries was really a collaboration between our team in Boston and Mikkel Borg Bjergsø from Mikkeller Brewery in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Brewed exclusively for the 2016 Copenhagen Beer Celebration in Boston, MA, we teamed up to bring a one-of-a-kind beer to the festival for its inaugural year in the states. And what better way to celebrate a little bit of Copenhagen in the U.S. than to brew a beer that has ingredients from both countries in it.

Bugs & Berries was born from the idea of blending 2 beers made of 2 bugs (yeast strains) and 2 berries. Yeast and cherries from Frederiksdal Estate in Harpelunde, Denmark were shipped to Boston and used to make the first beer. The second beer was brewed using yeast from Walden, New York, and strawberries from a few select farms, including one local farm in Groton, MA. Read More

New Albion Ale Has Arrived!

January marks the beginning of another exciting year of brewing for Samuel Adams with many new releases scheduled, but perhaps none more exciting than the return of New Albion Ale! First brewed almost 40 years ago by Jack McAuliffe, a Navy veteran, this American Pale Ale was the product of Jack’s desire to replicate the quality, great tasting beers he had enjoyed while serving in Scotland and other parts of Europe.New Albion 6Pack & Pint

Brewed solely with American Cascade hops (why? Because that was all that was available to Jack at the time), New Albion Ale is a golden American Pale Ale that holds a distinct citrus hop note and subtle piney character. A delicious brew, it’s no wonder New Albion Ale inspired so many of the Pale Ales we drink today. In case you missed it, checkout the video from our brewing day with Jack back in July. Read More

We’re Collaborating with Berkshire Mountain Distillers!

As some of you may have heard, today we announced an exciting collaboration with Berkshire Mountain Distillers to distill two of our brews into two completely new spirits. Samuel Adams Boston Lager and Cinder Bock will be transformed to create a unique spirit taste (more on that below). For those not familiar with BMD, they are the first legal distillery in Massachusetts since prohibition and a pioneer in the craft distillery movement.

Chris Weld, BMD’s founder, came to us with an idea of distilling beer and we started tossing around ideas while sampling several of our beers and some of his distilled products from trial distillations before deciding to use Boston Lager and Cinder Bock for this project. From our first meeting it was clear that Chris carries the same passion for his spirits that we have for brewing beer. This looks to be the beginning of a beautiful collaboration. Read More
